CDS Examination Course Syllabus
1. English Section
- Objective: To enhance language skills for better comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar.
- Topics:
- Vocabulary: Synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitutions.
- Grammar: Tenses, prepositions, conjunctions, subject-verb agreement, sentence correction.
- Comprehension: Reading passages with questions.
- Spotting Errors: Identifying grammatical mistakes in sentences.
- Para Jumbles: Rearranging sentences to form coherent paragraphs.
2. General Knowledge Section
- Objective: To improve awareness of national and international current events and historical knowledge.
- Topics:
- Current Affairs: National and international news, sports, economics, government schemes, etc.
- Geography: Physical, political, and economic geography.
- History: Indian history, world history, and important historical events.
- Polity: Constitution of India, political structures, fundamental rights, duties, and governance.
- Science: Basic principles of physics, chemistry, biology, and environment.
- Miscellaneous: Arts, culture, and notable achievements.
3. Mathematics Section
- Objective: To develop problem-solving skills and logical thinking in mathematical concepts.
- Topics:
- Arithmetic: Percentages, ratio and proportion, time and work, time and distance, averages, and profit & loss.
- Algebra: Polynomials, quadratic equations, and linear equations.
- Geometry: Lines, angles, triangles, circles, and mensuration.
- Trigonometry: Basics of trigonometric functions, identities, heights, and distances.
- Statistics: Mean, median, mode, standard deviation, and probability.
4. Military Subject (For IMA, INA, and AFA candidates)
- Objective: To provide foundational knowledge related to military affairs, war, and defense services.
- Topics:
- National Defence: Structure of the Indian Armed Forces, defense policies, and major defense projects.
- Wars and Battles: Important historical battles and strategies.
- Modern Military Technology: Weapons, equipment, and military strategies.
- Military Organization: Army, Navy, Air Force, and other branches.
Course Delivery Plan
1. Initial Setup
- Duration: 3-6 months (depending on the student’s starting point)
- Mode: Online live classes, recorded lectures, and interactive assignments.
- Frequency: 3-4 sessions per week for 2 hours each.
2. Weekly Breakdown
- Week 1-2: Introduction to English Grammar and Vocabulary, History (Indian and World), Basics of Arithmetic.
- Week 3-4: Focus on Sentence Formation, Synonyms & Antonyms, Geography, and Algebra.
- Week 5-6: Advanced English Comprehension and Error Spotting, Polity, and Geometry.
- Week 7-8: Intensive Coverage of General Knowledge topics (Current Affairs, Science, Sports), Time and Work, and Trigonometry.
- Week 9-10: Advanced Arithmetic (Profit & Loss, Time & Distance), History, and the Military Subject (National Defense).
- Week 11-12: Mock tests, timed practice sessions, and review of weak areas.
